Dana Air Plane Crashed in Lagos – Pictures available

This is not pleasant news at all as Dana Air plane crashed at Iju/Agbado residential area of Lagos State! The plane took off from Abuja to Lagos and was carrying 153 passengers- all the 153 passengers died.

Head of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Mr. Harold Denuren confirmed the plane crash and the number of casualty.

I hope the black box will be found…

ASUU to Call Off Seven-Week-old Strike

Last week, federal government held a meeting with ASUU and at the end of the meeting, the two parties made it cleared that the strike will be called off on the 23rd January, 2012.

Last week, federal government agreed to implement some aspects of the 2009 agreement reached with ASUU.

After the meeting today, is likely the strike will be called off.

Hup! 5 Persons Killed For Failing to Recite Quran at Madala Market

The five people believed to be Igbo traders were said to have been shot dead at Madala Market on Thursday Night between 7 – 8pm.

Our correspondent reliably gathered that the yet to be identified gunmen were said to have stormed the Madala market and made straight to a shop believed to be that of some Igbo traders and ordered them to recite the Holy Quran of which they could not. (more…)

Nigerian Customs Intercept Shipment of Bomb-Making Materials

LAGOS – (AFP) – Customs officials in Nigeria, buckling under a spate of bomb attacks blamed on Islamists, have seized an illegal shipment of materials used in bomb-making on a Chinese vessel, an official said Saturday.

They were found in a 40-foot (12-metre) container which was searched Friday at the port of Tin Can in Lagos, customs spokesman Wale Adeniyi told AFP. (more…)

NECO Releases June/July 2011 – Another Mass Failure Recorded!

Another mass failure has been recorded by students across the country in the just announced 2011 June/July Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results.

Registrar, Chief Executive of the Council, (NECO) while announcing the results in Minna Friday, exonerated the Council from the poor outing of students nationwide, adding that structures that ensured that appropriate standards of excellence and transparency were maintained before, during and after the examinations were put in place. OSOPADEC Award Scholarships to 3,000 Students

About 3,000 students from Ilaje and Ese Odo Local Government areas of Ondo State will benefit from N130million Scholarship and Bursary awards of the State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, OSOPADEC.

Chairman of the Commission Debo Ajimuda, said in Akure weekend that Governor Segun Mimiko had Governor Segun Mimiko had approved the take off of this year’s edition of the scheme. (more…)

Lagos State University LASU Part Time Programme Scrap

Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State has scrapped all part time programmes run by the Lagos State University, LASU, with effect from the next academic session.

This has also resulted in the scrapping of satellite campuses being run by LASU across the state.

The state government said in a bid to reposition the institution, with effect from the next academic session, LASU will no longer run part time courses in any of its faculties. (more…)

Check Out Luxury bus crushes 14 armed robbery victims

It was another tragic story yesterday 2nd August, as 14 passengers of a luxury bus who fell into the hands of armed robbers were crushed by another luxury bus, while many others sustained serious injuries along the Zariagy-Kabba Road junction.

The incident which occurred around 5.30 am attracted sympathizers and led to a heavy traffic gridlock at the ever busy Kabba federal highway for almost three hours. (more…)
