JAMB UTME 2012 E-Registration and Procedures

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board recently announced the selling of 2012 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) e-registration and procedures on how to go about it.

The cost of the scratch card which will enable intending applicants to register online is put at N4,600 (Four Thousand Six Hundred Naira Only), which is the same price as 2011 year.

So many applicants are eager to purchase the card and register, but you need to look at last year statistics- I believe that the information and statistic at the last part of this article will help you to prepare for JAMB with the understanding that JAMB UTME is not a child’s play, and need serious preparation.

Before I go into that, let me first of all show you procedures on how to register and important information you need to know about 2011 JAMB UTME e-registration.

How to Register for 2012 JAMB UTME Exam – E-registration

Registering for this year UTME is quite simple.

• Purchase the e-registration card from authorized agent or bank (Cost N4,600)
  YOU ARE REQUIRED TO DOWNLOAD A COPY OF THE 2012 JAMB UTME ONLINE REGISTRATION TEMPLATE AND PREPARE AT HOME SO THAT YOU WON’T MAKE MISTAKES
• Look for authorized registration (click here to search) centre around you that will take your photograph and finger print and register you for the exam. I was told that you can register anywhere where you have finger print scanner, but I don’t know how true that story is.
• Use the Sign Up option (http://www.jamb.org.ng/Unifiedtme/) to validate your PIN and serial Number. Please note that you are required to use this option ONLY once, i.e. when you have not created your registration account
• Upon Validation of PIN, you shall be required to supply a Unique User Name and Password which shall be used to Login subsequently. The Forgot Your Password Option is used to retrieve forgotten username/password.
• You will need a recent digital passport not older than 3 months (in JPEG format) before you start your registration. Candidates are advised to test the validity of their passport photographs before proceeding to fill.
• Also note Java Runtime is required by this Portal with a minimum of version 1.6.
  NOTE: Candidates who supplied valid e-mail addresses during registration shall receive their registration details via e-mails upon Submission of forms. This should be printed and attached to the earlier printed slip. All candidates should come with their recent passport photographs to the Examination Halls.

How to Print Your UTME Slip After Registration?

• Immediately after submitting your online registration, you are required to print a copy of your slip.
• Registration Slip can be re-printed using the Registration Number or the PIN. The can be done using the Module on the bottom right of the Default Page
• Launch the www.jamb.org.ng website from Internet Explorer
• Click on the “2012 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination” link
• Click the Re-Print button to re-print the Slip.

1.) 1, 493, 603 candidates registered for JAMB UTME 2011

2.) JAMB UTME 2011 was held on Saturday, June 18, 2011, across 331 centres Nigeria.
3.) 160 visually impaired candidates registered for UTME 2011 and 26 candidates were exempted from biometric fingerprint verification.

4.) JAMB UTME 2011 also took place in centres in Accra, Ghana; Buea, the Republic of Cameroun; Cotonou, the Republic of Benin; London, United Kingdom; Jedda, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Johannesburg, Republic of South Africa.

5.) Biometric finger print was used to check impersonation, lateness and for identification of candidates before admitting them for the examination.
6.) The JAMB e-slip was required for verification.

Statistic for 2011 UTME Result

1.) 1, 493, 603 candidates registered for JAMB UTME 2011
2.) A total of 1,493,604 candidates who sat for the UTME examination are seeking for admission into the 500, 000 available spaces in the nation’s over 117 tertiary institutions.

3.) Total of 2, 892 candidates scored 300 marks and above.

4.) 31, 444 candidates scored between 270-299 marks.

5.) 67,732 candidates scored between 250-269 marks

6.) 495,426 candidates scored between 200-249 marks

7.) 842, 851 candidates scored below 200 marks.
