IMechE Postgraduate Masters Scholarship

The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) invests in the future of developing engineers. IMechE is offering a number of Postgraduate Masters Scholarships to exceptional graduates with an IMechE accredited BEng(Hons) degree to allow them to undertake an IMechE accredited Masters degree for the purpose of obtaining the academic requirements for professional registration as a Chartered Engineer (CEng).

 

Study programmes can be instructional or research-based. It is intended that study should be on a one-year full-time programme; however, if a suitable part-time two year programme is proposed, then the award may be divided equally in each year.

Purpose For exceptional graduate students from an IMechE accredited BEng (Hons) degree programme who wish to pursue an IMechE accredited masters degree to obtain the academic requirements needed for professional registration for CEng.

 

Value: Full-time – up to £6,500.

Part-time – normally up to £3,250 p.a. (over 2 years)

Mandatory for all short-listed candidates
Eligibility
  • The scholarships are open to students currently resident in the United Kingdom, who will commence their IMechE accredited masters degree in the next academic session.
  • Students must have received an offer of a place at a university.
  • Students should be expecting/or have already gained a first class or 2:1 honours IMechE accredited degree.
  • Students must be an affiliate member of the IMechE at the time of applying for a scholarship.
Specific conditions
  • Applications must be supported by the Head of the student’s current academic establishment or by a corporate member of the Institution.
  • A candidate selected for a scholarship is required to become an Associate Member of the Institution.
  • The proposed degree programme must be clearly stated on the application form.
